When I Fall in Love by Susan May Warren. Hawaii was the last place Grace Christiansen ever imagined she’d vacation, much less fall in love. But when her family surprises her with a cooking retreat in paradise, she is pulled-or maybe yanked-away from her predictable, safe life and thrown headfirst into the adventure of a lifetime with Max Sharpe, a pro hockey player. Upon being paired with Grace for a cooking competition, Max finds himself drawn to her but its not like it seems.
The Well Played Life: Why Pleasing God Doesn’t Have to Be Such Hard Work by Leonard Sweet. Are you clutching life’s wheel too hard? Are you so busy sitting in the driver’s seat that you fail to recognize the Well-Played Life God wants to share with you? You can live like that—for a while. But imagine what it might mean instead to unclench your teeth, loosen your grip, and actually experience God’s pleasure in you—not just in everything you are doing for Him? It shows a new spiritual direction of enjoying (and being enjoyed by) God. Discover how a Sabbath way of Christian joy is not only possible, but also how we were designed . . . and a core part of God’s plan for our lives.
Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys by Stephen James. All stages and phases of development are covered – emotional, physical, biological, and spiritual. Each chapter ends with a section called “Putting It into Practice” that gives practical directions on how to successfully interact with boys at each respective level of development. Some people from our church have said it is a must read if you have boys.
