God is Big
What do we do when we’re facing a problem that is too big for us to handle?
1. “Woe to the stubborn children of Judah” (v.1-2)
2. “Egypt’s shade will bring you disgrace” (v.3-7)
Judah + God > any nation
Judah + Egypt without God < Assyria
-v.6-7 Judah is taking so many risks, to send so much wealth to Egypt, an unprofitable nation that is completely useless to Judah.
3. “Stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel” (v.8-11)
Judah is opposed to any sort of truth
4. “But you would have none of it”
God’s message to Judah was ‘if only you had repented, rested, trusted and been quiet I would have been your salvation and strength’. But Judah didn’t want God’s salvation and strength.
5. “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you” (v.18)
-repentance, rest, quietness, trust and waiting
God is all-powerful, all-knowing, He sees what we call the future with perfect clarity and He keeps his promises 100% of the time.
You + God > anything
Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
John 10:10 “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
